Australian Spinal Research Foundation (ASRF) Comes on Board as Third Co-sponsor of the ICA Pediatric Council’s Conference and Research Symposium Down Under

The ICA Council on Chiropractic Pediatrics welcomed on board a new sponsor to its Conference and Research Symposium to be held in Australia in April –the Australian Spinal Research Foundation (ASRF).. Already on board is the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia (CAA)) and the New Zealand College of Chiropractic (NZCC). The Conference/Symposium will be held at the Sheraton Mirage Resort on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, April 18-20, 2008.

“We are honored the CAA, the ASRF and the New Zealand Chiropractic College are supporting us in this endeavor,” said ICA Pediatrics Council Chair Dr. Lora Tanis. “This is our first conference in Australia and it is very encouraging for us to have these nationally recognized organizations in Australia and the New Zealand College of Chiropractic as our co-sponsors. A special thank you to Dr. Brian Kelly (president NZCC), Dr. Dennis Richards (President, CAA) and Dr. David Cahill (President ASRF).”

The conference./symposium will include clinical tracts on pediatrics and also discussion on chiropractic pediatrics research and paper presentations.

The clinical tracts will be taught by some of the most renowned pediatric speakers, teachers and practitioners including Drs. Lora Tanis, Joan Fallon, Laura Hanson, Sharon Vallone, Joyce Miller and Valerie Pennacchio. Also on the program is Dr. Lindsay Rowe, co-author of the well-known textbook on radiology, who probably has one of the largest radiograph collections of pediatric spines and Dr. Brian Kelly, president of the New Zealand College of Chiropractic.

One of the highlights of this conference/symposium will be the graduation of the first group of Diplomates in Chiropractic Pediatrics in Australia/New Zealand. This group of doctors completed the postgraduate program through the New Zealand College of Chiropractic and sat for the ICA Pediatric Council’s Board Exam in December 2007. They will receive their credentials from Dr. Maxine McMullen, former Professor of Pediatrics from Palmer College and recognized the world over as one of the pioneer instructors in chiropractic pediatrics.

“It is very exciting for us to have our colleagues in Australia/New Zealand become a part of our pediatric family,” said Dr. Tanis. Thanks to the support of the CAA, the ASRF and Dr. Kelly we were able to organize this symposium in Australia. Our goal is to share our clinical knowledge and experiences, and work toward collecting and providing that evidence so critical for the future of chiropractic pediatric practitioners as well as the infants and children we serve. I invite everyone who sees children, or even if you don’t, why you should, to come to this symposium, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.”
